church of Christ Putalisadak Monthly Missionary Work & Members’ Physical Sustenance Love Offering

The International Online Video Bible Study Program is what church of Christ Bridgeport started in Fall 2011 online between Bridgeport and attendees in Kathmandu, Nepal. As a congregation, we started hosting online Bible Studies of the Survey of the Old Testament using the curriculum from the Jamaica School of Preaching. That same curriculum is what the brothers and sisters from church of Christ Bridgeport participated in from Spring 2011. Brother Gladwyn Kiddoe, and other men from the JSP in the case of his absence, are the facilitators and Brother Dev Moktan is the translator. 

The International Online Video Bible Study Program started every Friday night around 10pm EST which is Saturday morning in Nepal. The class started with less than 10 people in attendance in the beginning and grew to the point of needing financial assistance to maintain. As a congregation, church of Christ Bridgeport was asked to assist if possible and as a result a weekly 2nd collection was set up every 2nd Sunday of the month to gather funds specifically for the work. The funds collected at that time specifically went to Rent for the Facility, Internet, Public Transportation for Attendees, and Food for Attendees. As a congregation, we’ve also on occasion sent old computers, tablets, and cell phones from members to assist with the work.

In 2013, enough attendees from the International Online Video Bible Study Program were baptized to plant an actual congregation for weekly Worship Services on Sundays in Nepal. The church of Christ Putalisadak was planted as a result in 2013. Since the majority of the congregation’s members are below Nepal’s national poverty line, the congregation needed financial support to sustain. That financial support would go to a monthly rented facility, utilities, and high speed Internet. As a result of this need, church of Christ Bridgeport increased the weekly contribution to $325 a month.

The International Online Video Bible Study Program grew to more attendees who wanted to join so an additional time was established to account not only for overflow from the Friday night class but to also set up tiers of the class since the curriculum used from JSP is designed in Old Testament and New Testament Survey sections. That growth need started Saturday classes in 2017 weekly at 10am EST which is Saturday evening in Nepal. 

As of 2020, church of Christ Bridgeport is now facilitating 2 separate weekly Friday night classes and 2 separate weekly Saturday morning classes through the International Online Video Bible Study Program which is called the International Live Online Biblical Study (ILOB Study).
